Brief
The Verify and GaaP programmes were being jointly managed under one design lead. Both programmes had grown to over 100+ people responsible for multiple products and services. Design leadership was needed for each programme. The design of Verify's brand and identity was strong and the programme would benefit from a service-centric design approach.
Objectives
- Set the strategic direction of design on the GOV.UK Verify programme
 - Understand Verify and identity standards
 - Steer and promote user centred design across the Verify programme
 - Ensure the programme is prioritising user-centric missions
 - Ensure the right mission teams have the right designers
 - Create an environment where all Verify designers can share, collaborate and crit ongoing design work
 - Spot opportunities to join up and simplify user journeys across product teams
 
Approach
- Mental model discovery
 - Mapping the Verify service
 - Visualising identity standards
 - Connecting to Verify Design sprint
 - Collaborating with the Research Lead and pitching missions to the programme team
 
Setting the direction of the programme
Taking the evidence from the mental models discovery, pitching user-centric missions and further discoveries for the programme.
        
        Joining things up across the programme
